The 2011 Jeunes Chef Rôtisseurs and Jeunes Sommeliers Competitions are in full swing, with all the regional levels having been completed. The national winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner to be held at the Westcliff Hotel on Thursday the 2nd June 2011. It also incorporates the 30th Anniversary of The Chaine des Rotisseurs in South Africa, and is definitely an event not to be missed!

A look back at 2010:

Chef Stacey Lee Chan made history in 2010 by becoming the first South African Chef ever to win gold at the prestigious Chaines des Rôtisseurs Jeunes Chef world final in Helsinki.

2011 Jeunes Sommeliers Regional Winners:

Gareth Ferreira - (The Saxon) - Johannesburg

Thato Goimane - (The Oyster Box Hotel & Spa) - Kwazulu Natal

Leon Coetzee - (Stonehill) - Outeniqua

The contestants were required to:
- Answer a 60 question exam
- Serve Methode Cap Classique
- Decant and serve red wine
- Correct a faulty wine list
For the National Finals, the contestants will be required to  taste wine and identify spirits on nose only.
